Following Hiram’s jail escape, the school is in shambles, and Archie intends to assemble a team to clean it up. One of the inmates robs Pop’s and is sent to the hospital, but he refuses to identify the other inmates. Archie decides to take on the bounty in order to spend the money to rebuild the school, and Hiram offers a reward for anybody who can gather up the fugitive inmates. Archie, Kevin, Fangs, and Uncle Frank all devise a scheme to bring the inmates in. Darla, meanwhile, infiltrates the hospital and murders the inmate, knocking out Tom Keller in the process.
Veronica informs Archie about Chad’s divorce ultimatum, and Archie determines they can’t be romantically involved until the divorce is completed. Darla and Dodger burgle Veronica’s jewelry shop. Reggie grudgingly agrees to assist Veronica in locating some of the stolen items. Archie and the gang bring in some of the inmates, when they run with Veronica and Reggie, who beg for assistance in recovering a rare opal she lost in the heist.
Hiram, Tom, and the governor are kidnapped and taken to the fire station, where the prisoners contact Veronica in return for the precious mineral palladium that Hiram is collecting. She accepts and enlists the assistance of Archie and the rest of his crew when she discovers Dodger is a part of the plan and has her opal. Veronica discovers the palladium in a safe and devises a scheme with the men to deliver the safe to Hiram, causing the guys to assault. It works, as the gang descends on the crooks and knocks them up, returning the opal to Veronica in the process.
Archie defends his choice to wait until Veronica is divorced when Veronica and Archie reunite at Pop’s. Governor Dooley is pushed by Hiram to give him greater authority.
Penelope informs Cheryl and Nana Rose that she established a ministry while in jail and that she wants to start one in Riverdale, much to Cheryl’s dismay. Cheryl observes Penelope deliver a sermon, which essentially becomes a worship service for Jason and his death. Cheryl subsequently learns that Penelope was the one who discovered Jason’s remains.
Tabitha approaches Betty for assistance in locating Jughead. Tabitha recounts what occurred to Jughead when he was on psychedelics and promises to pursue any leads. Betty contacts Jughead’s ex-girlfriend Jessica, who also agrees to assist. They search places frequented by Jughead, and when they come up empty-handed, Jessica proposes that they all take drugs to retrace Jughead’s movements. When they reject, Jessica recommends they go to Pop’s, where they all discuss how Jughead has portrayed himself as their former hero. As Betty and Tabitha begin to trip, Jessica confesses to drugging the group’s fries so she could take Jughead’s book and make sure she wasn’t slandered in it.
Betty and Tabitha, as well as Penelope and Cheryl, who are conducting mass, all sing as they go. Betty and Tabitha remember what occurred afterwards, and Tabitha agrees to assist in the search for the Lonely Highway murderer.
Jughead is a homeless man who is beaten up by a group of businessmen. Doc, a guy who was the focus of a tale Jughead concocted to impress the Preppies, saves Jughead. Doc and Jughead get beaten up by the merchants again. Jughead recognizes the following morning that he has to digest what occurred in New York before he can go on.
Jughead leaves Tabitha and Betty a voicemail as he hitchhikes into a shady vehicle.
