Chances are you struggle (like I do) with finding good keywords. I can find lots of them. I have a problem finding good ones.

I thought the data from Google’s keyword tool was always bang on. A big company like that wouldn’t give false results, would they? Turns out they do and they don’t.

The results you see are not always correct, far from it. But it will have been spot on at some time. I stumbled across the solution to this particular conundrum.

I targeted a keyword that ’said’ it had about 5000 competing web pages. I was pretty confident I could get a result from that. I started banging articles out left right and centre. Hundreds in fact.

Pretty soon I noticed over 9000 competitors. I could hardly believe that. Had there been some mistake? It turned out that my articles were showing on these sites and ranking for the keyword.

The point I’m trying to get across is that had I looked at the keyword with 9000 competitors, I would have left it alone. A lot of these sites were ranking with my article so I had a lot of competition but most of it was my own articles. A nice situation to be in!

Not wanting to rely on luck every time I thought I’d try a keyword research service. Getting a daily list of quality keywords sent is something that appeals to me. I calculated the cost of these services and concluded that they were value for money.

Travis Sago was offering a service which I decided to try. Travis being at the top of the bum marketing pile. Bum (article) marketing is something I enjoy as it’s almost free.

If I can get a keyword or two in my in box each day then that saves me valuable time. At least a two hour saving. If I can save two hours work each day that’s something I’ll grab with both hands. Put that couples hours saved against the daily cost and it adds up to value.

My email inbox is usually full of stuff going on about how outsourcing is the way forward. And what I’m trying here is simply that. I’m outsourcing my keyword research to a professional service.
