The Popular Back Button And Its Importance In Web Design

September 2nd, 2010 by News World Report

The Back Button is one of the most crucial Web buttons inany website development design, and yet the majority of Web creative designers will not think of it as they are building their pages. The truth is, it’s extremely typical to see back to homepage or back to start or just back links built in to the webpages that they’re developing. Nevertheless unless these back links have built in logic that knows exactly where the client had been before they clicked on like the internet browser back button does, then these hyperlinks are simply a scam, a guess at the route that the client took via your internet site.

A lot of people Browse the Web in the subsequent method.

Most of the people come to a Internet site and skim. In the event that it does not appear like what these people required to discover or wished to read about, they depart. And the quickest route out of any Web site is, you guessed it, the Back Button. The truth is, most people do not even realise they’re doing it. They sit at a Web site with their computer mouse hovering on the scroll bar area, in the event they need to scroll the web site. And then, unless something really interesting occurs, these people draw their mouse up to the upper left side of the internet browser and go back to their past location.

You may be thinking, but I don’t want them to go away and that you may want to use a web site design to prevent this. And several designers do think that. So they do things like pop their web site in a chrome-less window with no back button. I’ve even noticed websites actually go as far as to close down the first window and open the website in a window without having controls. This is annoying.

Also it doesn’t help to make your web site more functional, it causes it to be much less functional. Simply because the common techniques that the consumers use to get around are obstructed. Once they figure out how to get away from your site, they will leave, and never come back.

Don’t take away the back button from your web page design. You will not stop all of your visitors from departing, however, you might stop them from coming again. Be sure to take advantage of the back button. Now, I’m not really, at all, suggesting that you recommend in your text things like click the back button in your browser to go back. Most people realise that already, and your stating it seems, well, dumb at best. Rather, be aware that your clients wish to make use of the back button, and plan for it accordingly.

Web Site Customization: What Are We Able To Do?

September 2nd, 2010 by News World Report

Nowadays, in such a trendy world, people get very uptight when they do not appear entirely presentable. This would also be the case in web designing.

Every individual would certainly want their web site to look great, if not, towards the best they are able to. Below are a few things we could appear out for when needing to create a professional looking webpage.

Pallettes and Themes.

When designing, always select matching colors. An example of a matching color will be to experience a dark background, with visible words and designs. With the dark theme, try not to mix as well many bright colors into the style. What we ought to NEVER do, is to mix two very different colors, such as purple and yellow. Now, of course, it would rely on the reason from the web site, but those two colors are too striking for one who wants it to appear much more expert.

Themes should always suit the organization or rather, the organization / etc. If the website was designed to cater for a food organization, it would be wise to stick to that specific category, instead of to revert to a different theme, for example machinery.

Fonts should be used in regard to the formality from the web site. A simple sans-serif font would suffice in most instances. Exceptional instances such as style and art groups might want to use fanciful designs and fonts. Obviously, that’s only should you determine what you’re doing.

Finally, we must always try to believe of our visitors, see the way they see. The resolutions and file sizes from the pictures must not be too big when it comes to size. This would be to permit maximum compatibility and cater our visitor’s needs.

So, planning is something we should usually do, prior to attempting some thing.

Learning Affiliate Marketing With AffiloJetpack

September 1st, 2010 by News World Report

There are new internet marketing products being released every day and they are not all created equal. Choosing what to purchase can become overwhelming at times. How do you tell if a product is a scam? Then there is common information that some people sell to unsuspecting people. Figuring out who to trust and who to pass by can be difficult. I had the chance to look through one of the most popular internet marketing courses on the market, AffiloJetpack. Ready for my honest opinion? I know that affiliate marketing can seem daunting. But to make it seem a little less intimidating you should check out this Affilojetpack Review web page.

AffiloJetpack is an updated version of AffiloBlueprint, an incredibly popular course created by Mark Ling. The course offers step by step instructions on how to build your affiliate marketing career from scratch. Each section of the course is broken down to one week lessons so you can fully cover the topic before you progress to the next step. One week at a time may seem like a daunting task but the goal is to actually understand and be able to apply the lessons to make some money. If you are looking for instant results then I advise you to go look into buying a scam product. Take my word for it, finding one method that works and then learning the fine points of it will pay off more than jumping from one thing to another.

Not only will you receive AffiloJetpack and the software tools but there are a number of bonuses that comes with it too. Even the affiliates are tacking on a bunch of bonus products to help sweeten the deal. This means that you are getting a bunch of extra stuff as an incentive for buying the course.

Many courses will be happy enough to take your money but they limit their bonuses to only one and two per product. It is possible for you to receive up to six times as many bonuses with AffiloJetpack as you would when purchasing another product. Creating an online presence can seem to be a challenge. But you can see what the latest ways of doing this are at this Affilojetpack Review page.

Mark Ling built a business and a deep understanding of internet marketing through action and perseverance. According to Mark, he has been in just about every circumstance that any affiliate can imagine and has succeeded. His products are based on years of experience and impressive results. The best part is that he holds nothing back; he includes stuff that he teaches to paying clients. He had to learn these lessons the hard (and time consuming) way. There are dozens of ways to get paid online. Wisely, most marketers started off with affiliate marketing. It is simple to earn your complete income from affiliate marketing once you master a system that works. There are many courses that teach affiliate marketing but only a few are as powerful and comprehensive as AffiloJetpack. It contains lessons and tools to help you build your business in a fast and solid way. Success is yours!

Tips You Should Consider For Affiliate Marketing

September 1st, 2010 by News World Report

There are many ways to make money on the Internet and people are raking in the moolah using various methods such as freelancing, site flipping, ebay, etc. Yet affiliate marketing remains one of the more popular methods simply for how simple it can be. This is a very easy business to begin with that has enormous potential for rapid growth. It’s easy for anyone to sign up as an affiliate and create a means for financial freedom. You’ll find it’s very easy to begin simply because there aren’t any barriers on the entry terms. You simply join up with an affiliate network at you can begin promoting products immediately. There’s no expenses to think about like overheads, stock, inventory or shipping. Your only job as an affiliate is to drive traffic to the product website and you get paid an amount for every customer who buys something. It’s quite easy but there are some people who end up over-complicating it. Given below are some effective affiliate tips you can use now. I know that affiliate marketing can seem daunting. But to make it seem a little less intimidating you should check out this Affilojetpack Review web page.

First, be certain that you understand everything about the people that you are trying to sell your products to. Without knowing who you’re promoting to, it gets really difficult to promote the right products. Make sure that the affiliate item that you are selling really handles their dilemma. If you have a site about gardening, don’t promote a web hosting program just because it pays well. Ensure that the affiliate product matches the needs of your audience. The more precise you get with it, the more sales you’ll make. You want your ad to match the target market, so you have to give the target market the product that it wants. In order to be successful, you have to make sure that you product relates to your audience’s needs. Another helpful tip is to work on promoting only one product at a time. If you start out with too many products being promoted, you risk not being able to focus on them effectively. Begin with only one product and then add another as you see results coming in. Until you find a successful product, keep testing and tweaking. When you know the affiliate program is working for you, repeat the steps over again with a new product until you have a whole portfolio of products bringing in profits. Creating an online presence can seem to be a challenge. But you can see what the latest ways of doing this are at this Affilojetpack Review page.

Learning about pre-selling can also increase your success with affiliate programs. There are affiliates who will never succeed while they put up a few banners on a site and then don’t do another thing to get a sale. Increase a site visitor’s interest by warming them up a little before leading them to a main offer page. Work in your pre-selling angle with an unbiased review of the product or by offering visitors a list of benefits they can expect. Be impartial and offer the good points as well as bad points. When you pre-sell like this, your visitors are more likely to click over to the sales page in a buying frame of mind. People are more inclined to buy this way than if you just lead them straight to a sales page. Affliate marketing is about being honest about the products you want to sell and building up your business over time. It takes time and patience. Apply the tips mentioned here, add some honest pre-selling tactics and you’ll see positive results in your own business.

A Few Affiliate Marketing Tips That You Should Consider

September 1st, 2010 by News World Report

With so many different options for making money online, it’s easy to see why people are making so much profit from things like freelancing, site flipping, eBay and others. However, the popularity of affiliate marketing remains strong as more people learn about how profitable it can be. You can begin an affiliate business from scratch easily and it can be expanded to become very profitable. Anyone can sign up to become an affiliate and begin building profits immediately. It’s so easy to get started simply because there’s no restrictions for entry. You simply join up with an affiliate network at you can begin promoting products immediately. There’s no need to think about inventory or shipping or order fulfilment. Your job is to forward targeted traffic to the product owner’s page and get paid for every sale/lead you bring in. It’s quite easy but there are some people who end up over-complicating it. Here are some affiliate tips to help you begin making profits now. I know that affiliate marketing can seem daunting. But to make it seem a little less intimidating you should check out this Affilojetpack Review web page.

To begin with, you have to know the people that you are trying to sell your products to. Unless you know exactly who your audience is, you won’t be able to sell them the correct products. Make sure that your affiliate product matches the problem that they are having. If you have a weight loss site, don’t advertise an acne product just because it has a high commission. Make sure that your product is a perfect answer to your target market’s problems. The better you get at doing this, you will be able to make more money. Just the way you match your ad with the right audience, you have to match your product with what your audience wants. The key to success depends on relevant product. The second important tip is to take it one step at a time. If you try to promote more than one affiliate product at a time, you risk not monitoring them properly. Begin with just one product and add more slowly as you become more experienced. Work on ways to test and tweak your marketing methods until your product is successful. When your first product is bringing in profits, repeat the process to grow a portfolio of products. Creating an online presence can seem to be a challenge. But you can see what the latest ways of doing this are at this Affilojetpack Review page.

Pre-selling is one of the key elements of success with affiliate programs. There are affiliates who will never succeed while they put up a few banners on a site and then don’t do another thing to get a sale. Keep a visitor to your site interested in your product by warming them up before leading them to click on the main offer page. You can pre-sell using an honest review on your site, telling the prospect about the benefits of the product. Be impartial and offer the good points as well as bad points. When a visitor is more comfortable about the product, lead them to click across to the product website while they’re in a ‘buyer’s’ mindset. You’ll see higher sales from these visitors than if you’d just sent them to a product page. Affliate marketing is about being honest about the products you want to sell and building up your business over time. It takes effort and hard work. Remember the tips mentioned here and offer some honest pre-selling methods so you can reap the rewards of your affiliate business.

Internet MLM Recruiting – Blogging To Keep Your MLM Site Fresh

September 1st, 2010 by News World Report

If you are into network marketing and plan to market yourself online, you need to update your website daily to keep it fresh.

One way to keep your site dynamic is by blogging. By blogging about your network marketing website, you can put in your own information about your business, your neighborhood, or your favorite candidate for the next president.

If you plan to blog, have your bloglinks pointing to your personal MLM homepage so that your readers can bookmark it by saving your URL. The more visitors or hits you get to your network marketing blog, the higher your position will be in the search results in Google. Some of the most popular blogging software to use are Blogger, Wordpress, Typepad, or Movable Type.

If you blog, make sure it is a topic that other people are willing to read. Think about what topics you can present to the uninformed. If you have working knowledge in a specific area, by all means write about it. Surf the internet for websites that you normally would and when you find something of interest, add a link to it from your blog and comment about it. That is all. Even though you are not pushing your MLM product or service or recruiting for distributors, you are selling your time. You are telling your readers that a particular topic you found on the web is worth their time. If you plan to do lots of blogging, then it would be a good idea to set up an RSS or XML feed. This will update your readers who subscribe to your website.

If you are a good blogger, people will notice you. Perhaps you will have advertising on your blog from the MLM company you are distributing for or competing blogs. You can even include daily audio and video reports that people can download into their iPods.

If you think blogging sounds like fun, it really is. But here is the drawback. The time you spend writing up your blog is the time you could spend selling your MLM opportunity, product, or service.

If you want to make it big as a blogger for your online MLM business, then check out other blogs to get a feel for the messages that they are putting out.

Marco Abanico is a veteran online marketer who teaches strategies in internet marketing for the network marketing industry.

Breaking news and updates in Internet security
  • Dell Collaborates with Trend Micro
Small and medium businesses are constantly at risk of being targeted by cybercriminals, simply because they are smaller than large corporations. The bigger a company is, the more money they have to invest in higher-tech security systems and larger, more involved IT departments. For smaller companies, it is easy to focus on trying to expand business and let security sit on the back-burner. This is where the partnership between Dell and Trend Micro comes in. They have come up with an easy way for small and medium sized businesses to manage their security needs without breaking the bank.Dell Collaborates with Trend Micro Trend Micro's Business Security Services include several desirable features to make the security portion of running a business much easier. First and foremost, is a set of web-based tools which make administration extremely easy. There is no need for a dedicated in-office server (or any company owned server at all), and the administration panel can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection. There is also a remarkably low system performance impact, thanks to the fact that once a scan is complete, the results are processed in the "Smart Protection Network" run by Trend Micro. For companies with little or no IT staff on hand, the system comes pre-configured security parameters and runs automatically, so there is less worry about having something set up improperly. Both desktops and laptops are secured with this software, even if they are used outside the office. Anytime the computer is connected to the internet, it is being actively protected. This has the biggest impact on users who travel with their work, as many do. This is a big step forward for one of the top PC suppliers in the world. The fact that this software can come pre-installed on systems shipped to its commercial clients means that they can offer security and piece of mind to a large group of people.
  • Apple and Adobe Both Roll Out Large Security Updates
Both Apple and Adobe have shipped out relatively large collections of security patches this past week, Apple fixing up OSX and Adobe locking down it's Shockwave player. Both sets of patches have been given a security rating of 'critical,' which means that there is the possibility of malicious code execution on an unprotected system.Apple And Adobe Both Roll Out Large Security Updates Apple's update this week fixes code execution attacks when viewing maliciously crafted PDF or PNG files, or even just viewing a document with a maliciously crafted font installed. There is also the possibility for network administrators to abuse their positions by intercepting sensitive data through the use of an anonymous TLS/SSL connection, or to use a similarly named web address to impersonate a legitimate site and steal information that way. For instance, if they are in possession of the domain name www.example.com, they are able to impersonate www.example.com due to the lack of checking the final letter in the certificates. There are also updates for the newest versions of PHP and ClamAV which both claim to include necessary security updates. These updates can be applied via the "Software Update" option in OSX or downloaded from Apple's support site. Adobe has updated their Shockwave Player to fix several security holes, including 16 memory corruption vulnerabilities which could lead to code execution. These vulnerabilities affect version 11.5.7.609 and earlier, and it is recommended that anyone running these versions immediately upgrade to the most recent version (11.5.8.612) of the software found on Adobe's website. The memory corruption vulnerabilities and four more issues are all labeled as 'critical' in the Severity Rating System. The other issues include two denial of service attacks, one of which could potentially lead to code execution. Also there is a pointer offset vulnerability and an integer overflow vulnerability which can grant one with malicious intent access to plant code in a user's memory.
  • HP to Acquire Fortify
Earlier this week, HP announced that it will soon be adding Fortify to its list of recently acquired companies. This will be a huge advantage for HP in the security market.HP to Acquire Fortify Fortify Software is a company that specializes in software security. Founded in 2003, it has continued to grow and supply Software Security Assurance (SSA) to government agencies and fortune 500 companies in many different industries. Their best known software suite, Fortify 360, is a tool that can root out security issues in software, as well as fix those issues and prevent future vulnerabilities. In February of this year, HP and Fortify released their most recent collaboration, "Hybrid 2.0" which goes to show that there has been no problems between these companies working together in the past. Once the deal is finalized, Fortify will continue to run as a stand-alone company. Eventually though, they will be slowly integrated into HP's Software and Solutions business. This will allow HP to put a much larger focus on software security in every aspect of the application life cycle. "Businesses operate in a world of increasing security and compliance challenges, and the applications and services that they rely on are core to the problem and the solution," said Bill Veghte, the executive VP of the Software and Solutions branch, in the official HP statement on the acquisition. "With Fortify's leadership in static application security analysis combined with HP's expertise in dynamic application security analysis, organizations will have a best-in-class solution to improve the security of their applications and services." This is not the only company HP has had its eye on. Just last month, HP finalized its purchase of Palm, Inc. This was meant to increase their connection to the rapidly growing mobile device market. This past April, HP bought 3Com for its computer network hardware capabilities. These companies were purchased for $1.2 billion and $2.7 billion dollars respectively. The details of the deal between HP and Fortify have not yet been disclosed.

The post is owned by O'reily now.Total income generated is $500 paid by O'reily for Google Hacks Book. The webpage features 10,000 thousands back links. One by one, Brett went over all of the points he wrote in the webpage back in 2002 and discussed over the same with the audience. Back then, Brett had written that it was enough for the initial document to have 100 pages. However, he said, now the number should be around 500. The posts are not really supposed to be about SEO, but more about content, traffic and building a sustainable website. On asking the audience regarding their experience with website having less that 100 pages, most say that they (the experiences) haven't been satisfactory.Regarding the domain name, Brett said that the domain name game is now much more complicated than ever and one can have a TLD (Top Level Domain) of his own. About Site design, Brett stated that the criteria was and still is that the simpler the better. The advent of the iPhone has further confirmed on the notion. It is imperative that now every website is designed keeping the compatibility with mobile devices in mind. One has to adapt all current designs to iPhones.Static sites are seemingly going extinct and there's simply no point in building up sites in HTML. But the most important thing was, is and will continue to be content. Content should have its purpose and not be there just for the sake of existence. Quality content cannot be substituted. Matt Tuens added here that content was the main reason that Search Engines were created. One should ensure a certain degree of stickiness in their websites since people are too busy to go to twenty different sites. You can do the same by simply creating one site that could be the 'go to' site. Brett moved on to the topic of user generated content. The reliance on UCG is a thing of past now. Back in 2002, outbound links were considered a delicate issue since each site was as good as to the ones they were linked to. Even now, Search Engines judge on the same criterion. One could practice cross linking to boost up PageRank on lesser value pages.Shared hosting is unthinkable now for the simple fact that costs have dropped drastically and everyone can have a server of their own. About regular log tracking softwares, Brett stated that his team uses one they have created on their own and displayed the wide variation it shows from the results of other packages. Many CMS (Content Management Systems) are still not spider friendly and this can be a major bottleneck in your SEO objectives. Ensuring that you are in the right directories is still a good way to enhance traffic. With the users becoming more web savvy than ever, gimmicks are still a hit. People tend to negate the importance of options, such as 'e-mail a friend'. These are still as valuable as they were earlier. Targeted content is the key now. Smart content can get your business places. Matt Tuens goes on to elaborate on 'smart content'. You have to understand that everyone is trying to criticize and judge your content. Give information that your demography is looking for instead of irrelevant garbage just to get a good ranking, otherwise you will incur losses on sales, credibility and overall business in spite of a good ranking.Comments
  • Getting More Out Of Marketing Conferences
Now, more than ever, marketing companies and consultants need to get competitive for client dollars and what better way than advancing your knowledge and your network? There are many options for companies and agencies to train digital marketing teams and to keep tenured employees up to date including conferences such as: this week's WebmasterWorld Pubcon, Search Engine Strategies, Search Marketing Expo, numerous regional and niche events and an increasing number of web based offerings including SEMPO Institute and the DMA Search Engine Marketing Certification program. I would be remiss not to mention the upcoming "Social Media Smarts" workshop in NYC covering all aspects of social media marketing including a strategy exercise and tips on building a business case for a social media effort in your organization. Attending conferences is not cheap when you factor the increasing price of travel and hotels as well as pre/post and conference training fees, meals and taxi. Attendees and their companies are paying $2500 - $5000 per person per conference as well as the cost of time away from the office performing billable work. It's easy to see why webinars are on the increase and why those who are fortunate to attend these events need to get the most out of them. The most important thing that conference attendees can do to get the most out of their time at events is to set goals. Managers sending individuals to conferences should be clear about expectations. Company staff should be sure to talk with others within the organization or team that have attended the same or similar events to gain their insight. Depending on the purpose for attending a conference, goals may vary. Here are some common goals based on the various reasons for attending any kind of marketing conference: Knowledge - How many sessions will you attend and how will you capture the information? Notes, photos, video (where allowed) When meeting new people, discuss the sessions with them. Compare notes with other attendees, it's a great way to network and to get other opinions. Before the conference, make a grid or a plan for which specific sessions you'll be attending. Often times, there is not much time between sessions and the difference between getting a good seat and standing room only can be a matter of minutes. Networking - How many qualified prospects, marketing partners, vendors to outsource to and job candidates will you meeting? Each day, tally them up and plan how you will follow up. Content - how will you leverage your conference experience to create new content for your company blog, articles, or process documentation? Set goals for how many you’ll create each day. The content you capture and create can supply a company blog with numerous posts and show clients, staff and prospective clients that you are on top of what's happening in the industry. At TopRank, our staff are required to publish at least 3 blog posts for each day of conference attended. Set goals for how many blog posts, articles or other types of content will be created each day of the conference. It doesn't have to be all text, you can take photos of people, and presentation slides. Take videos where allowed. Knowledge transfer - How will you pass on the information youâ've acquired to the rest of the team? At TopRank Online Marketing, our staff take the highlights and any specific tactics of use and create presentations which they share with the rest of the TopRank team. Knowing you will be required to present the information you are gaining with the team back at the office helps focus on takeaways and practical interpretations of the new information. Socialize - Where there's a conference, there's a party. After hours events are exceptional opportunities for conference attendees to relax, network and share information. Make no mistake, post session networking can be an art form. Make a point to relax and have fun, but be clear about objectives and make a goal of attending a dinner each night of the event if possible. Some dinners are a tradition amongst long time friends, some are sponsored by vendors and some are at hoc events that occur as a result of like minded individuals wanting to continue the day's discussion. As you can see, there are many more opportunities to get value from marketing conference participation than keeping up to date with an industry. Pre conference goal setting and planning, well defined processes as well as follow up and post event knowledge sharing can all multiple the value organizations realize by sending employees to educational events. Not all organizations are positioned to take full advantage of these insights, but through simple analysis, it can become clear pretty quickly how much is being left on the table or to competitors who are sending the same numbers of people and incurring the same costs. Understand the conference offerings, set goals and make the time to pre-plan conference involvement. Leverage content creation, networking, recruiting, competitive intelligence as well as prospecting opportunities and industry conferences can move pretty quickly from an expense with an uncertain effect to an investment with multiples of return.Comments

  • Are Your Online Marketing Efforts Breaking the Law?
Rand Fishkin of SEOmoz has a fascinating (and probably startling to some) post up discussing some new guidelines from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regarding online marketing. The post stems from SEOmoz's COO Sarah Bird, who is an expert on legal matters pertaining to marketing, and some things she revealed in a recent interview. WebProNews readers will recognize her from these WPN videos on various legal topics. I will not regurgitate Fishkin's post here, but if you're concerned about laws pertaining to disclosure of paid endorsements, it's a must-read. He does offer the following takeaways to sum it up: 1. Most social media marketing is legal without disclosure. 2. Link builders don't have to disclose their relationships. 3. Google & the FTC have very different requirements about paid links. 4.  Linkbait, viral content and microsites don't require disclosure (most of the time). In the online marketing world, does not always cross our minds that there are legal boundaries that are being stepped on or even crossed in some cases. For the protection of your business, it is really an important thing to make sure you are abiding by federal regulations. These are only US guidelines though, so if you live in a different country, you will probably want to do some digging of your own to find out what the regulations are in your own government. Read the FTC's guidelines here.
  • Top Web Brands and Parent Companies
Earlier, we looked at the top domains and pages in terms of linking popularity among different linkers. Collectively, they are referred to as the most important domains and pages on the web. Nielsen Online, however, has looked at the top online companies and brands for the month of March. This data looks at unique audience and time per person spent with each. Take a look at these charts from Nielsen: "The parent level is defined as a consolidation of multiple domains and URLs owned by a single company or division," explains Nielsen. "The brand level is defined as a consolidation of multiple domains and URLs that has a consistent collection of branded content." Nielsen also looked at Internet usage in general for the month of March. There are some interesting statistics here as well: I find it interesting that the average web page is viewed for just under a minute. This might be an interesting stat to advertisers displaying dynamic ads with different offers. This is the kind of information that can be considered when deciding how long to leave each offer displayed before moving on to the next one.
  • The Most Important Domains and Pages on the Web
SEOmoz has a couple of very interesting charts showing the top 500 domains and the top 500 pages being linked to from different places. This paints a pretty good picture of what sites are held in the highest regards by content producers. "The sorting is done in order, not of raw link counts, but of linking root domains - a metric that we've found incredibly valuable both for identifying broad popularity (vs. sites that simply earn lots of links from a few sites with many pages) as well as filtering spam (it's easy to get lots of pages linking to you, and even easy to get lots of subdomains linking to you, but getting a diverse set of root domains is considerably harder)," explains Rand Fishkin of SEOmoz. I'm not going to replicate both lists of 500 here. You can view them at SEOmoz, but I will provide a quick glance at the top ten of each: Top Domains 1. Google.com 2. Yahoo.com 3. Blogspot.com 4. Adobe.com 5. Wikipedia.org 6. YouTube.com 7. W3.org 8. MySpace.com 9. Wordpress.org 10. Microsoft.com Top Pages 1. Woredpress.org 2. Google.com 3. adobe/products/acrobat/r... 4. miibeian.gov.cn/ 5. validator.w3.org/check/referer 6. statcounter.com 7. jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/chec... 8. phpbb.com 9. del.icio.us/post 10. yahoo.com Graph by SEOmoz You can get a look at all of the stats like linking root domain count, external link count, mozRank, mozTrust, PageRank, and change on the charts. Fishkin also provides some interesting highlights from the lists like top gainers and losers here.

  • Yahoo Search Assist Becomes Geo-Sensitive
Under the right circumstances, search engines can turn the names of a person's city and state into ugly words; users looking for local info may have to type them over and over until they wish the founders had stuck to just two or three letters.  New Yahoo search suggestions aim to eliminate that problem, though. Product Manager Vivian Lin Dufour wrote on the Yahoo Search Blog this morning, "We're making Search more intuitive by taking user context and applying it to the search experience.  Today we are introducing an enhanced Yahoo! Search Assist, providing suggestions geographically closer to you as you type your query." You can see an example of how this works below.  The first image shows what search suggestions a Yahoo user in Sunnyvale, California (which is in Santa Clara County) would get after typing "santa."  The second image shows how they'd differ for an individual located in Santa Barbara. This should save people some typing, and in the process, also tends to make Yahoo's results look much more useful. The upgrade shouldn't cross any sort of "creepy" line, either, since Yahoo doesn't seem to be interested in pinning down users' exact addresses or anything like that. Anyway, Dufour invited everyone, "Give this new feature a try and let us know what you think about geo-sensitive search suggestions in the comments section . . ."
  • Implications of New Gowalla Feature, Facebook Gift Cards
Gowalla has launched a new feature called "highlights" which it describes as "little rewards you can give to places that are important to your life". MG Siegler talks about the potential significance of such a feature. "Where this gets really interesting is when you bring the social graph into it," he writes. "So, for example, if I check-in near a spot where a friend of mine asked his wife to marry him, I'll get a message alerting me of that. Or if I’m looking for the best taco place in Austin, Texas, I can visit the Highlight page and see what the masses are voting for. There are a lot of potentially interesting uses for this when it starts to get populated with a lot of data." As reported, Target is going to start selling Facebook Credits gift cards. SFGate.com has an interesting article about the implications of this, in terms of Facebook securing. Wired looks at today's story about a man who took hostages at the Discovery Channel's headquarters in Maryland, and posted his demands to the web, on his site savetheplanetprotest.com - the text is still available in cached form here. Apple announced a bunch of new things today. You may have heard. Here's a summary. Michael Arrington has an interesting piece about how Google has lost 118 employees to Facebook, and how the company makes counteroffers to those employees receive offers from Facebook. Marshall Kirkpatrick at ReadWriteWeb talks about why Alcatel-Lucent acquiring OpenPlug is big news. Henry Blodget at Silicon Alley Insider reports that South Korea's Naver has taken search in-house. Unfortunately for Yahoo (and Microsoft), it has been Yahoo's biggest search affiliate, according to Blodget.
  • Yahoo Expands Local Listing Partnership with Dex One
Yahoo announced today that it has expanded its partnership with Dex One to allow listings on Yahoo Local. "This broadens the reach of Dex One's local advertiser network, providing their clients with greater exposure in local communities and more consumers with detailed information on local businesses," a spokesperson for Yahoo tells WebProNews. All businesses who advertise on Dex One's DexKnows site will be able to show up in Yahoo Local search results. The expanded partnership doubles the geographic area covered by the original partnership, which started in 2007.  The original agreement covered the 14-state region where Dex One is the official print directory publisher for Qwest. "Yahoo! is committed to helping local businesses unlock the potential of digital advertising," says Regan Senkarik, VP of Channel Sales at Yahoo. "Expanding our agreement with Dex One will provide their clients with greater exposure in local communities and more consumers with detailed information on local businesses."  "This strengthens a great strategic relationship with Yahoo! and broadens the reach of our local advertiser network," said Sean Greene, SVP of interactive at Dex One. "Through the network our clients' online business information appears not only on DexKnows but also in prime locations on many of the Web's most popular search sites, including Yahoo! Local." On a somewhat related note, Yahoo today announced that its Yahoo Search Marketing advertisers can now begin their transition to Microsoft adCenter - a product of the Search Alliance between those two companies.
